Civitavecchia (Rome), an international drug trafficker arrested after landing from Barcelona with 87 kg of pure cocaine worth approximately 10 million euros

In particular, the police officers of the Maritime Border Police of Civitavecchia, after having carefully examined the list of passengers arriving from Barcelona, ​​subjected to checks some vehicles present on board the ferry and expected to disembark on the evening of Wednesday 20 November.

Among these was a tractor with a semi-trailer attached, driven by a Spanish hauler.

In the initial stages of the check, the driver appeared particularly nervous and uncooperative and this attitude worsened further as soon as the police dog “Eviva” approached the truck.

It was therefore decided to carefully check the contents of the semi-trailer by unloading the transported goods and then proceeding to check the passenger compartment of the truck.

Right inside the driver's seat, Eviva reported drug contamination, which however was not detectable upon visual examination.

The search of the passenger compartment revealed 2 remote controls similar to those used to open electric gates with some fuses nearby.

Nearby, an empty “slot” was noted where the operating personnel inserted the fuse and then activated the remote control.

Immediately The two seats in the passenger compartment were raised electronically, automatically removing themselves from their housing and revealing a large double bottom hermetically sealed from the outside, where numerous packages were hidden.

A total of 79 blocks were extracted for a total of 87 kg, which, when immediately examined, turned out to be a narcotic substance of the COCAINE type.

The driver of the vehicle was then arrested and taken to the local Aurelia prison at the disposal of the Deputy Prosecutor in charge of the investigations, Dr. Martina FRATTIN.
