Venice. THE NIL Carabinieri (Labour Inspectorate Unit) of Trieste, with the collaboration of the soldiers of the Provincial Command CC of Trieste, as part of a coordinated and joint activity aimed at prevent and repress the phenomena of labor exploitation and undeclared work (undeclared work) and the verification of the legislation on the safety of workers in the workplace, have intensified checks at the bar and restaurant establishments, farms and construction sites.
Inspection accesses, aimed at investigations of an ordinary and technical nature, they concerned the verification of the regular employment of workers and compliance with the employment contract, in particular regarding the fight against the most serious crimes of human trafficking and the exploitation of any illegal labor.
The inspection activity was also extended to verification of the legality of foreign citizens on the national territory and of the exploitation of the workers themselves by employers. The outcome of the checks, carried out in the municipality of Trieste and in the province, made it possible to ascertain at a construction site in Duino Aurisina (TS), the employment of 2 "illegal" workers of which one recipient of citizen's income, which is why the INPS was informed for the revocation of the benefit and the procedure for suspending the entrepreneurial activity was adopted until the two workers are hired, contesting total fines of €15.000.
During an inspection at an ethnic restaurant, they were identified four workers without safety training in the workplace, which is why the employer was referred to the AG. In other retail business, the employer was reported to the AG for installing an unauthorized video surveillance system with which workers were also monitored remotely. On a farm, 2 "illegal" non-EU workers were identified, with consequent suspension of business activity. In total, 20 working and high-level positions were verified sanctions amounting to 30.000 euros.
