Catania: Threatens and kicks the door of his ex-wife's house, 39-year-old arrested

The Provincial Carabinieri Command of Catania pays maximum attention to the prevention and fight against gender violence, also through the monitoring network composed of military personnel trained and specialized in the delicate matter.
In this context, the Carabinieri of the Librino Station they arrested red-handed a 39-year-old from Catania, responsible for mistreatment in the family.

In particular, the Operations Centre received a request for intervention in Viale Bummacaro, in the Librino neighbourhood, for a woman who was being threatened by theex-husband, who was demanding to enter the house and, therefore, was kicking and punching the entrance door of the apartment. Therefore, the patrol of the local station was immediately dispatched, which, already employed in a patrol service, reached the victim's home in a few minutes, and also a gazelle, which arrived to give a hand to its colleagues.

Once on site, the soldiers They found the man still on the landing, who immediately introduced himself as the woman's ex-husband, downplaying the incident and saying that he was there only to see his son. The Carabinieri, however, wanted to investigate further and while the Radiomobile staff he secured the 39-year-old, the other colleagues entered the house where the woman had taken refuge with her 5-year-old son.

The victim, clearly frightened, tearfully told investigators about her ex's violent behavior, which had led her to report him last August. Comforted by the presence of the military, the lady then reported of the escalation of violence in recent months, during which he, claiming to control her, allegedly used video calls with their child to insult and threaten her, with the aim of preventing her from leaving the house: "You have to tell her that she has to stay tucked inside, she must not come out completely, she has to act like an old lady."

Finally, the last attack, announced by phone to her father: “I'll come down there and kill you”, which is why the terrified woman called 112, as soon as she heard her ex kicking and punching the door, threatening: “Let the baby come out or I'll kill you”. Determined not to suffer any more threats and controls from her ex-partner, above all to protect the well-being of her minor son, the victim found the courage to go to the barracks where she was welcomed by the Carabinieri.

In the offices, the woman was immediately reassured and, thanks to a climate of trust and security created specifically for her, she was able to integrate her complaint, definitively breaking the cycle of violence suffered. In the meantime, the 39-year-old has been arrested and, by order of the Judicial Authority, which validated the arrest, subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest.
