Catania, beatings and assaults in a disco: baby gang defeated

The Catania State Police, at the disposal of this District Attorney's Office, executed an order for the application of a precautionary custodial measure, issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Court, in against 6 people as they are seriously suspected, as a result of the elements acquired, of the commission of the crime of complicit injury, aggravated both by having determined to commit the crime or of having in any case made use of a minor in the commission, or of having acted for trivial reasons, in more than five people gathered together.

The investigations, initiated by the policemen of the Crimes against Persons Section of the Flying Squad, they allowed us to acquire, in the current state of the case and in relation to a procedural phase which has not yet allowed the intervention of the defence, elements which would demonstrate that the recipients of the measure, the majority of whom are under twenty-one, they would be responsible, for trivial reasons and/or without any apparent reason, of aggravated personal injury to vulnerable victims, targeted, inside nightclubs in the historic city centre.

The timely investigations, based on what was reported in detail by the security personnel, by the offended people themselves or by those present at the time of the events, as well as on what was captured by the video surveillance systems, have made possible a complete reconstruction of both the dynamics of the attack of 11 February 2024 and that of 2 March 2024.

In particular, as regards the February 11 episode, the inspiration was provided by a girl's carnival celebrations of the Catania hinterland, together with his partner and other relatives, due to the harassment on the dance floor carried out against him by a group of young people who did not hesitate, then, to beat anyone who had intervened to defend the girl with their helmets, thus causing injuries of varying degrees to four people.

The second episode dating back to the night of March 2nd, it was about instead a university student away from home, attacked, without any reason, at another nightclub, with slaps and punches from a boy backed by a group of about twenty people, with healable lesions in “7 days for mild head trauma”, each other not only filmed in every sequence by video cameras placed inside the venue, but also relaunched by social networks.

The suspects, tracked down on the morning of June 20, 2024 at their homes, after completion of the formalities, were subjected to the measure of house arrest.

One of them, also the recipient of the aforementioned measure, he was found to be untraceable.
