Caregiver confesses to four murders: "I administered lethal doses to put an end to their suffering."
Mario Eutizia, a 48-year-old caregiver from Naples, confessed to causing the deaths of four elderly people he was caring for, claiming he did so to put an end to their suffering.
Eutizia reported himself to the Caserta Police Headquarters, where he provided the details of two of the victims, an 88-year-old man and a 96-year-old man, who died respectively in Casoria (Naples) in December 2023 and in Vibonati (Salerno) in March 2024.
The other two elderly people, whom Eutizia claims to have killed, lived in Latina, but have not yet been identified by the authorities.
According to the caregiver's confession, he administered four times the prescribed dose of anti-cancer drugs or painkillers to the patients, creating a lethal mix. Despite his statements, in which he claims to have acted to alleviate the victims' suffering, the authorities issued an arrest warrant against him.
In the confirmed cases, the death of the two elderly people was initially considered natural and compatible with their state of health, given their advanced age and the serious pathologies from which they suffered.
However, Eutizia's confession raised doubts and initiated further investigations to verify the veracity of her statements and to identify the other two victims mentioned.
Eutizia is currently assisted by lawyers Gennaro Roman and Antonio Daniele. The investigation will continue to establish exactly what happened, examining the medical records of the deceased and trying to confirm the circumstances of their death.
The case has caused considerable social alarm, especially due to the ease with which the man appears to have acted and the potential existence of other victims who have not yet been identified.
The authorities are working to shed light on all aspects of the case, including the motives behind the murders and the responsibilities of any other parties involved.
