Camporotondo Etneo: Beats Wife in the Street but Neighbors Call the Carabinieri, Arrested

The Provincial Carabinieri Command of Catania pays maximum attention to the activities of prevention and fight against gender violence, also through the monitoring network made up of soldiers trained and specialized in the delicate matter.

In this context, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of Gravina di Catania have a 46-year-old was arrested red-handed originally from Belpasso, responsible for family abuse and personal injuries.

In particular, around the 20.30, the Operations Centre received a request for intervention in the northern outskirts of Camporotondo Etneo, for a woman who had been shortly before victim of a violent assault by her husband.

When they arrived on the scene, the officers found the man still on the street, drunk, sitting on the pavement at the edge of the roadway, who immediately introduced himself as the victim's partner, downplaying the incident and referring only to a trivial argument with the woman that had occurred shortly before.

The Carabinieri, however, wanted to investigate further and entered the house where the woman had taken refuge, together with her two small children. Visibly suffering, with abrasions on her elbows and knees, the woman was in a state of panic and despair, so the Carabinieri, after reassuring her, immediately called for an ambulance, trying, in the process, to acquire all the necessary information for the reconstruction of the facts.

The victim, in fact, tearfully told investigators about the violent behavior that from 7 years to this part she was forced to suffer, up to the last aggression of that day, during which she was brutally beaten by her husband, who was convinced that she was chatting with another man. After the first blows, the woman allegedly took refuge in the car, where he, however, reached her and forced her out by grabbing her by the hair. In the street, the man then hit her head first against the hood of the car and then against the railing of the building, kicking her and making her fall to the ground, before dragging her towards their apartment.

Only the intervention of a neighbor would have allowed her to escape and therefore save herself, allowing her to lock herself in the house with the children and call 112 NUE. Ecosystem's staff is 36enne, having lost his "prey", he also allegedly railed against his neighbor, punching and smashing the glass of her ground floor balcony, and then to threaten the wife: “Before the Carabinieri arrive they will find you dead!”

The lady was entrusted to the care of the paramedics, who arrived on the scene in the meantime and the man was arrested and, by order of the Judicial Authority, which validated his arrest, subjected to the precautionary measure of arrest at his mother's home in Belpasso.

The victim, instead, was transported to the emergency room of the San Marco hospital, where she was immediately taken into care by doctors who, after having examined her, drew up a report for her with a prognosis of 12 days for the injuries she suffered.
