The State Police of Brescia, after the 4 deferred arrests and in parallel with the judicial proceedings, has applied 75 DASpo in the last few hours. of the Police Commissioner against some of those responsible for the violent clashes that occurred at the Rigamonti stadium and in the surrounding areas during the Brescia - Cosenza football match last June 2022st, valid for the 2023/XNUMX Serie B championship.
In a first phase, a rain of smoke bombs started on the pitch from the Curva Nord which forced the match director to suspend the match. At the same time, again from the Curva Nord, a large group of ultras invaded the pitch in an attempt to make contact with the visiting fans.
The timely intervention of the police prevented further consequences. The teams of the Mobile Department of the State Police present in the immediate vicinity of the pitch immediately entered the pitch and stopped the advance of the ultras, pushing them back into the sector and creating a security cordon suitable for freezing the situation. In the meantime, the match director, having consulted the director of the public order service, interrupted the match.
In the immediate aftermath, another large group of ultras headed from outside the stadium towards the away section and, after throwing smoke bombs, firecrackers and pyrotechnics, tried to break through the security structures of the stadium. Also in this case, the intervention of the State Police Departments was timely and avoided contact between the opposing fans.
At the same time, another group of ultras occupied Via dello Stadio and, again in an attempt to access the away section, broke down the security barriers and started a heavy stone-throwing attack on the police teams deployed near the gates. of access to the Curva Sud who managed to maintain the garrison and repel the troublemakers.
Other and further violent attempts to break through in Via Novagani, in Piazzale Kossuth and in other streets adjacent to the sports facility were effectively faced and contained thanks to the professionalism and mobility of the State Police and Carabinieri personnel employed in the service .
Once public order was restored, the safe outflow of spectators was completed and the visiting fans, escorted by a complex system of law enforcement and local police, left the province.
The clashes resulted in the injury of 11 law enforcement officers and the damage to several State Police and Carabinieri service vehicles.
At the end of the Public Order service, several subjects were accompanied to the police station to be identified and, in the following hours, 4 deferred arrests were carried out.
On the basis of the material acquired from the video surveillance systems, from open sources and above all from the local Scientific Police, present with its own operators at every point where critical issues occurred, accurate analysis activities were conducted by ad hoc working groups which involved the investigative units of the Police Headquarters.
The analysis of thousands of frames allowed the referral of several dozen subjects to the Judicial Authority as well as the application of 75 DASpo provisions, some of which required signatures, handled by the Anti-Crime Division of the Police Headquarters.
This measure, issued by the Police Commissioner, determines the ban on access to sporting events, including training at any level of professional, amateur and friendly competition, as well as the ban on frequenting the areas surrounding the sports facilities and places affected by fans even in the phases prior to and subsequent demonstrations, with the further obligation to go to the police offices before, during and after each demonstration.
