Brenner, attempts to illegally re-enter Italy. State Police arrests foreign offender
The Police Chief of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori, in consideration of what has emerged, has issued against him a Decree of Expulsion from the National Territory which will be effective once the man is released from prison at the end of his sentence.

Late Saturday afternoon, State Police officers on duty at the Brenner Public Safety Station, during the usual back-crossing checks at the Italian-Austrian border aimed at combating illegal immigration and drug trafficking, on board an international train from Munich to Bologna, a 51-year-old Albanian citizen, a certain KR, who was in fact homeless in Italy and illegally resident on the national territory.
During the inspection operations, the man attracted the attention of the Police due to his nervous and impatient attitude, which is why he was made to get off the train and accompanied to the Police Station for more in-depth checks.
Here, following a check at the Database of the Ministry of the Interior, numerous criminal and/or police records emerged against the subject, for crimes of various nature and severity; Furthermore, the foreigner was found to be the recipient of an Order of Imprisonment issued in 2020 by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Bolzano for the purpose of serving 6 months of imprisonment following a conviction for violating the obligations of assistance towards minor children.
At the end of the judicial police proceedings, KR was declared under arrest and taken to the Bolzano prison where he will serve the foreseen sentence.

"The systematic road, motorway and railway checks carried out by the State Police in the area of competence of the Brenner Border, both the joint checks carried out by the POLFER and the ROAD POLICE with the equivalent departments of the Austrian and German Police, and those carried out by the Brenner Public Safety Commissioner – underlined Commissioner Sartori – they are very effective in monitoring border crossings and preventing foreigners who do not comply with immigration laws, often with criminal records, from clandestinely crossing the borders to commit crimes".
