Bolzano: Extraordinary checks, 3 expulsion decrees and 2 mandatory expulsion orders
Specific services have been carried out general prevention by operational units of the State Police belonging to the Bolzano Police Headquarters and the POLFER, as well as personnel from the Bolzano Local Police, with the specialized support of the Crime Prevention Unit of the State Police. In addition, in the streets of the historic center the usual extraordinary "anti-Movida Violenta" services were carried out which involved operational units of the State Police, the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and the Local Police, integrated by the Military of Operation “Safe Roads”.
The City of Bolzano, therefore, was the scene of numerous checks carried out by over 45 women and men belonging to the Police Force and aimed at, as in the previous phases, to the prevention and fight against property crimes, drug dealing and predatory crime in general.
In particular, the areas of Via Isarco, Via Maso della Pieve, Via Claudia Augusta, Quartiere Casanova, Via Alto Adige, Piazza Domenicani, Via dei Cappuccini, Via Perathoner, Via Garibaldi, Vicolo San Giovanni, the Railway Station and the surrounding streets were monitored by the Police Force – thanks to the effective prevention action implemented by the POLFER –, as well as all the streets in the historic centre. During the aforementioned services, special attention was paid to those areas where the presence of individuals dedicated to drug dealing was usually recorded, as well as those reported for the commission of illicit activities.
Specifically, prevention and monitoring interventions were also carried out at the “CENTRUM” and “TWENTY” Shopping Centres, and the areas adjacent to the LAURIN Car Park, the Parco delle Religioni, as well as the walks along Lungo Talvera and Lungo Isarco were inspected: all of these places, reported by citizens, also through the official State Police Application YOUPOL, used as a reference point for the carrying out of illegal activities. This type of checks aims to monitor these areas, in order to avoid the consolidation of critical situations for public order and safety.
Furthermore, a specific monitoring and prevention service has been set up in the areas near some schools in the Municipality of Bolzano., also following reports from parents who had expressed the importance of carrying out checks in the vicinity of educational institutions on the occasion of the influx and outflow of studentsThese monitoring activities are aimed at preventing ill-intentioned individuals from approaching children in front of schools, luring them into illegal situations or offering them the purchase of drugs. During these specific police activities, no particular critical situations were highlighted.
Overall – also during the 7 checkpoints carried out along the arteries leading to the city – 7 public establishments, 71 vehicles and 211 people were inspected, of which 88 were foreigners and 102 had criminal and/or police records. At the end of the operational activities – in which the Anti-Crime Division and the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters also collaborated, for their respective areas of competence – the Police Chief adopted the following Provisions:
• 2 Mandatory Street Sheets (from the Municipality of Bolzano) against persons burdened by criminal and/or police records, who were found in the municipal territory without any appreciable reason and in unjustified circumstances;
• 2 Oral Notices (Prevention Measure provided for by the Code of Anti-Mafia Laws) against an equal number of Italian and foreign citizens who demonstrate a marked social dangerousness due to criminal and/or police records for crimes of various kinds, including crimes against the person, drug-related crimes or crimes against property;
• 3 Expulsion Decrees / Orders of Removal from the National Territory against the same number of non-EU citizens who, during the checks, were found to be irregular in Italy and with criminal and/or police records against them.
Following the investigations carried out by the Immigration Office, The Police Chief issued the same number of expulsion decrees, ordering these people to leave the territory within 7 days.; if they do not comply, they will be reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office and forcibly accompanied to their country of origin.
“They continue in a systematic manner, as in previous weekends, extraordinary control and monitoring operations of parks and urban areas where citizens have reported the presence of annoying individuals or those intent on committing illegal activities – highlighted Police Commissioner Sartori at the end of the operation –. These police operations, as well as the prevention and surveillance activities carried out in the vicinity of schools and inside shopping centres, are fundamental importance to prevent and contain those deviant phenomena and those criminal manifestations that have a clear impact on the safety of citizens".
