Bologna: #NESSUNASCUSA, the video message from the Carabinieri on the occasion of November 25th

The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Bologna transmit a video message for Celebrate November 25th – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a celebration established by the United Nations General Assembly.

The Capitane Georgia DeAcutis, Commander of the Carabinieri Company Bologna Borgo Panigale and Lavinia Filonzi, Commander of the Carabinieri Psychology Unit of the Emilia Romagna Legion, they are aimed at all women.

In fact, first of all, abuse must be acknowledged. To anticipate the physical violence which is the most evident, there is always psychological, verbal, economic violence or manipulation. In case of danger, the invitation is to call 112 and this invitation is addressed both to the woman who finds herself in a dangerous situation, but also to witnesses or other people who are somehow aware of it.

The phenomenon of gender violence is in all respects a violation of human rights which necessarily requires us to intervene not only in terms of repression but also in terms of prevention which is also achieved thanks to the training of our staff who are instructed in an adequate and competent manner.

The ways in which a woman victim of violence will be welcomed, listened to and helped, will greatly influence the possibility that this can to formalize a complaint. Numerous rooms have been created within our barracks that can guarantee a confidential and protected hearing in the delicate moment in which the woman finds the courage to report.

There are nearly 200 electronic remote control devices, commonly known as “anti-stalking bracelets” worn by women, as persons injured by the crime and protected by the remote control system of the Carabinieri of the Operations Centre of Bologna. They are over 500 instead the cases, in the province of Bologna, relating to women who since January 2024 they have reported to the Carabinieri crimes related to the phenomenon that concerns them, including mistreatment, stalking and even sexual violence.
