Blitz by the Carabinieri of Ragusa: network of drug dealers in the historic center defeated. Precautionary measures were carried out against 5 subjects.

The Carabinieri of the Ragusa Company, with the support provided by the Nicolosi Dog Unit, at dawn this morning gave execution of a precautionary custody order against 5 people: a 32 year old, recipient of the precautionary custody order in prison, a 31 year old, a 34 year old and a 46 year old, recipients of the precautionary measure of house arrest, and a 28 year old, recipient of the residence obligation.

The suspects, all residents and domiciled in Ragusa, will have to answer for various reasons crime of possession for the purpose of trafficking of narcotic substances in competition, aggravated by specific recurrence within five years. The charge, specifically provided for by the Consolidated Law on Narcotic Drugs, underlies a strong synergy between the suspects, who were the protagonists of a long series of conduct resulting in the commission of the contested crime.

During the investigations, undertaken starting last year, the soldiers of the Ragusa Company's Operational and Radiomobile Unit were able to document numerous sales of narcotic substances, marijuana, hashish and especially cocaine, which had turned the spotlight on the situation of degradation experienced in the historic center of the Iblean capital. The info-operational activity, corroborated by technical investigations, allowed the reconstruction of the movements and modus operandi adopted by the pushers. The military found that drug dealers used two distinct methods to evade controls by the police, i.e. the sale of drugs from one's home, or the delivery of drugs to agreed places, away from prying eyes and difficult for the police to control.

As further confirmation of the flourishing drug dealing activity on the part of the consolidated network made up of the suspects and by virtue of the numerous searches that the Carabinieri soldiers have crystallized over the last few months, the criminal context, have been made an arrest in flagrante delicto, two referrals in a state of freedom, as well as several seizures of drugs and material suitable for packaging the substance, for an estimated value of tens of thousands of euros.

The Iblea Public Prosecutor's Office, fully sharing the investigative findings produced by the Carabinieri, has requested the Judge of Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Ragusa to issue the personal precautionary measures granted today.

The detailed investigation activity also allowed the release of a further 6 people for the same crimes, ascertaining a total of over 90 sales of narcotic substances, and identifying more than 58 buyers. The operation was carried out this morning by 20 soldiers from the Ragusa Company, supported by units of the Carabinieri Dog Unit of Nicolosi.
