Belluno: scams targeting the elderly, two perpetrators arrested by the State Police.

The Flying Squads of Belluno and Brescia and of the PS "Carmine" police station arrested two subjects responsible for the crime of multi-aggravated fraud in the Province of Bergamo.
In recent weeks, following some scams targeting the elderly in Belluno, the staff of the local Flying Squad had been tracking a suspicious car.
The scams were perpetrated with the canonical method: a telephone call is made to the landline at the home of the elderly person by a scammer who claims to be a policeman or carabiniere, where the victim is warned of the fact that one of his a close relative has just caused serious damage to things and people in a road accident and for this he risks going to prison.

As a false guarantee for the relative's release, the elderly person is asked to hand over money or jewelery to another public official who will shortly ring the doorbell.

So, effectively, a stranger shows up at the old woman's house and, in great haste, has cash and jewelry delivered to him and immediately loses track of him.
The suspicious car was taken to the province of Brescia, causing the Belluno and Brescia Flying Squads to activate a tailing service against the alleged fraudsters.
After wandering around the city and making several stops, the subjects went to Villongo in the province of Bergamo and carried out an aggravated scam against a lady in her eighties.

The criminals had numerous gold jewels with a value of around €60.000 delivered to them, after having deceived the old woman by revealing themselves as fake carabinieri, delegated as usual to the collection of said values ​​which would have allowed the release of her daughter, guilty of having run over a person.
The two criminals were stopped and arrested red-handed shortly after the robbery for the crime of conspiracy fraud aggravated by the victim's impaired defense and the huge economic damage.

These are two men with criminal convictions, one aged 22 and 45.
At the end of the activities they were transported to the local prison available to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Bergamo.
Today the judge for preliminary investigations validated the arrest and applied the precautionary measure of custody in prison.
