Barletta and Andria. Carpet checks by the State Police and the Financial Police in the car demolition sector: a business was seized and 35 subjects were checked.

The State Police and the Provincial Financial Police Command of the BAT, assisted by the Traffic Police, the "Green Basques" and the Bari Air and Naval Operations Department, carried out numerous checks at car dismantlers, fleets and used parts dealers in the province, with the aim of carrying out checks on the regularity of the activities, on compliance with environmental protection measures and combating crimes against property, with particular reference to receiving stolen goods.

In the 3 controlled companies, two in Andria and one in Barletta, they emerged several important irregularities on which the related investigations are still underway. Specifically, a retail business of used car parts was seized for the crime of unauthorized waste management, pursuant to the provisions of the art. 256 of the Consolidated Environment Act.

Within the company, waste management was illegally carried out as well as the sale and storage of car parts in an area actually intended for agricultural use. The seals were placed on the illegal economic activity and the simultaneous referral of the company owner to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Trani.

The police operations involved a car park, where around 9.000 pieces of cosmetics and personal care products were identified inside two garages, subjected to seizure as they did not meet the safety requirements set out in consumer protection legislation (consumer code) and the simultaneous reporting to the Chamber of Commerce for the imposition of the administrative sanctions provided for by current legislation.

Furthermore, 799 perfumes containing harmful substances were found containing the chemical substance Butylphenyl Methylpropional, prohibited by the European Commission Regulation 1902/2021 of 29 October 2021, as they are included among those carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic, which led to the reporting of those responsible to the Judicial Authority of Trani.

The investigative activities carried out also made it possible to find and seize approximately 800 liters of diesel at a reduced rate and intended for agricultural use, as it did not have the UMA booklet (agricultural engine users), an essential requirement for the use of the aforementioned benefit and which will therefore lead to the quantification of the excise duty evaded. The owner was also reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Trani because the diesel was stored in violation of fire regulations and therefore in potentially dangerous ways.

During the control operations, which saw thethe use of 50 units including policemen and financiers, and a latest generation helicopter from the Bari GdiF Air Section, 35 subjects were also checked, many of whom had police records, and the work positions of the personnel intent on carrying out their work within the controlled sites were analysed, whose administrative and contributory positions are being examined by the inspection bodies.

It is stated that the seizure measures have all been validated and that the two subjects under investigation cannot be considered guilty until responsibility is ascertained with a final conviction.
