4.203 people checked, of which 491 with a police record, 3 investigated, of which 2 for refusal of personal information, contempt and resistance to a Public Official and 2 for money laundering, as they were caught near San Severo (FG) burning copper cables to evade recognition, 1 reported to the Administrative Authority, 1 minor tracked down and returned to the community from which he had run away, 15 vehicles checked: this is the balance of the Railway Police of Puglia, Basilicata and Molise.
The Railway Police Department for Puglia, Basilicata and Molise has increased its surveillance activities aimed at combating all forms of illegality and has further raised the level of attention at railway stations and on board trains, also in light of the greater influx of travellers coinciding with the August bank holiday.
182 surveillance services were carried out in the passenger and freight railway yards, 16 patrols were employed on board 22 long-distance trains and regional routes, while 4 were specific anti-pickpocketing activities in the stations, 3 patrols were carried out monitored along the railway lines, with particular attention to combating the phenomena of placing obstacles on the tracks, throwing objects at moving trains and theft of copper cables.
The activity of the Railway Police during the August bank holiday was also aimed at assisting people in difficulty, homeless people, who gravitate towards the railway sector, as well as towards the many travellers who turned to the operators for help in relation to the loss of luggage, documents, mobile phones, this in the spirit of community policing.
