Bad weather, the animal "Mud Angels" take to the field in Senigallia

Oipa and small local associations are asking for help and reinforcements

Bad weather, the animal "Mud Angels" take to the field in Senigallia.

I return “mud angels” of the animals eight months after the serious flood last September. They are the zookeepers and the volunteers of theInternational Organization for Animal Protection (Oipa) who since yesterday in Senigallia (Ancona) have been saving the four-legged victims of the new wave of severe bad weather.

Il refuge Hairy Hearts of Senigallia, which is located in the flood zone despite the many requests to the Municipality to be able to transfer it to a suitable location, was evacuated since yesterday together with the Biagio's group association. Unfortunately the kennel has suffered damage again and will need to be restored.

«The dogs were moved and temporarily stabled partly in the Bigelli Bastianoni clinic, which gives us support in all emergencies, and partly at the Tara Dog Park, which is also always available to help us», says the coordinator of the Oipa zoophile guards of Ancona, Luana Bedetti. "The cats were moved to a temporary structure provided by the Municipality to the association that operates the shelter, which is working hard with us for the displaced animals. Some mother cats have disappeared and the newborn kittens that we have saved are all divided between us Oipa guards and the volunteers: we act as wet nurses so we can breastfeed them regularly. We need help and reinforcements».

THEOipa returns to hope that the Municipality of Senigallia will set up soon a new refuge in a suitable place, since having a structure of that kind next to the river causes drama and tragedy. «Not having found a solution in almost 10 years to make the animals safe and thus avoid their death, as already happened in 2014 and last September, is unacceptable. There is so much to build and rebuild to help and we ask everyone to give us a hand», he observes Luana Bedetti.

A heartfelt appeal from Oipa to animal owners: "Always secure them in case of weather warnings, they must be immediately moved from the danger areas and made safe. Even cats let loose on these tragic occasions may look for places to hide and become locked or stuck there».
