Bad weather in Veneto. Red alert confirmed for hydraulic criticality in the Upper Brenta-Bacchiglione-Alpone and Lower Brenta-Bacchiglione basins.
The update bulletin issued today by the decentralized Function Center of the Civil Protection of Veneto confirms, until 20.00 pm tomorrow Thursday 29 February, the level of maximum hydraulic criticality with alarm in the Alto Brenta – Bacchiglione – Alpone and Basso Brenta basins - Bacchiglione. In the two basins the level of hydraulic risk decreases, orange until tomorrow (early warning).
In fact, we note the possible triggering of landslides and rapid flows in the mountain, foothill and hilly sectors of the areas under alert; probable regurgitation of rainwater disposal systems and flooding of underground rooms and/or underpasses; raising the levels of the secondary hydrographic network, in particular for the areas under orange alert VENE-H (Piave Pedemontano), VENE-B (Alto Brenta-Bacchiglione-Alpone), VENE-E (Basso Brenta -Bacchiglione) and possible flooding of neighboring areas as well.
In the areas under hydraulic alert, a significant increase in temperatures is indicated levels of main watercourses, with probable exceeding of the third hydrometric threshold, with flooding of the neighboring and floodplain areas; on the Alto Brenta-Bacchiglione-Alpone and Basso Brenta-Bacchiglione basins possible relevant scenarios (bank erosion, overflow, siphoning, embankment failures, overtopping of bridges and other works).
The weather forecast today indicates scattered to local precipitation, at most moderate, with snowfall limits at first 1400 1700-m and then a little higher. Better weather for tomorrow. Generally modest phenomena are expected, initially possible locally especially on the mountain and foothill areas, then from local to scattered starting from the south especially towards the end of the day; snowfall limit at around 1600-1900 m in the Pre-Alps and 1400-1700 m in the Dolomites.
