Taranto. This morning, the State Police implemented an application order of the precautionary measure in prison, issued by the GIP of the Court of Taranto, at the request of the Taranto Prosecutor's Office, against a 26 year old from Manduria, held presumed responsible for the crime of attempted murder, possession and illegal possession of a weapon common shooting, aggravated threats, explosion of fires in a public place, aggravated by the mafia method and futile motives, alleged crimes committed against another young man from Manduria.
From the investigations, conducted by the policemen of the Flying Squad of Taranto and the Manduria Police Station, under the direction of the Taranto Prosecutor's Office, it would appear that the young man fired 3 shots, two of which in the direction of the owner of a bar in Manduria, missing him, on the night of December 22nd
Also thanks to the help of images from video surveillance cameras, it was possible to reconstruct what happened: the 26-year-old he was celebrating his birthday in a club of the historic center of Manduria, when a friend of his set off a battery of fireworks, which fell among the patrons of the outdoor area of a nearby bar.
Following the complaints of the bar owner, an argument arose with the 26-year-old who left the cluband, not before having blatantly threatened the owner of the place, before returning immediately afterwards, armed with a gun.
From outside the bar, the young man, after having exploded two shots fired in the direction of the owner who in the meantime had taken refuge in the club, fled, threatening him again and telling the few remaining customers not to call the police.
Given the blatant nature and sense of impunity underlying the actions committed by the subject, contextual to the public and threatening invitation to silence addressed to bystanders, and also due to the social context of Manduria, where fringes of organized crime persist, the ordinance also recognizes the existence of aggravating circumstance of the so-called mafia method.
Therefore, the documents will be transmitted to the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Lecce for competence.
It is reiterated that the principle of the presumption of innocence applies to the suspect until the final sentence.
