An agreement between LUMSA University and the CUFA of the Forestry Carabinieri for the development of joint projects to combat the phenomenon of forest fires.

The Rector  Prof. Francesco Bonini  and the Commander of CUFA Gen. CA Andrea Rispoli, signed on 25 March 2024, at the headquarters of the Forestry Carabinieri Command in Via G. Carducci n.5 in Rome, a three-year convention that opens up collaboration in researching the reasons underlying the resurgence of the phenomenon of forest fires in Italian rural and mountain areas. In particular, a Coordination Committee will be established for the implementation of this Agreement composed of representatives of the University and officers of the Army's forestry specialty.

The agreement provides for the development of shared studies and research projects, aimed at analyzing and examining the socio-economic matrices underlying the onset of forest fires in Italy, with particular reference to rural and mountain areas.

The role of LUMSA contact person will be entrusted to Prof. Antonio Ciaschi, while for CUFA the contact person was identified in Lt. Col. Renato Sciunnach , current Commander of the Forest fire prevention information unit, a highly specialized info-investigative structure of the Carabinieri

"The agreement signed today is part of a historic collaboration relationship that links the two institutions and once again reaffirms the role of research at the service of the country, in a sector that causes serious social alarm.” She wanted to underline the Rector Bonini

"The protocol on which we have agreed is part of constantly evolving issues – specifies Il General CA Rispoli  – and the technical-scientific comparison based on the social sciences that begins with the signing of the agreement is therefore of absolute importance".
