Almost two tons of food seized by the NAS between Trapani, Palermo and Agrigento.
From April to today the Carabinieri of the NAS of Palermo have carried out numerous checks, with the collaboration of the territorial commands of the Carabinieri in the provinces of Palermo, Agrigento and Trapani, aimed at protecting food safety.
Following the inspection activities, during which the military found hygiene deficiencies due to the failure to comply with the self-control procedures based on the principles of the HACCP system and the absence of food traceability, a total of 1.722 kg of food subjected to administrative seizure intended for consumers, for a value of 34 thousand euros. Fines totaling approximately 25 thousand euros were imposed.
In Palermo, in a pastry shop the marketing of 202 kg of confectionery products was blocked of which it was not possible to ascertain the origin of the ingredients.
In the municipality of Santa Margherita di Belice (AG), the Carabinieri seized approximately 2 kg of dairy products in 900 dairies intended for marketing “without traceability having been correctly implemented – we read in the ordinance – of the raw materials used for production".
