Alessandria, investigations by the Forestry Carabinieri for the death of four wolves in the wooded area of ​​Albera Ligure.

The investigations were conducted with the support of the UCA - Anti-Poison Dog Unit, extremely qualified departments of the Army's Forestry specialty, coming from Liguria, Lombardy and Piedmont.

The Forestry Carabinieri, together with personnel from the Provincial Supervision of Alessandria, conducted an operation to ascertain the possible causes of death of four wolves found in the wooded area of ​​Albera Ligure, in order to exclude poisoning, as part of a wider investigative activity, still ongoing, aimed at repressing poaching.

The investigations were conducted with the support of the UCA - Anti-Poison Dog Unit, extremely qualified departments of the Army's Forestry specialty, coming from Liguria, Lombardy and Piedmont. The units, made up of a handler and a dog trained to identify poisoned morsels/bait, are distributed throughout the national territory and are also activated in the event of suspected animal poisoning, to clean up the area close to that of the discovery. There are currently twenty-two dogs belonging to the UCA, mainly Labradors, German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, characterized by an extraordinary sense of smell, a strong aptitude for research and play, who, thanks to continuous training, are capable of developing an indissoluble bond with their own conductor.
