The protection and safeguarding of woods and forests distributed across the national territory by the Forestry Carabinieri continues in 2023.
As part of the "Bosco Sicuro" control campaign, prepared by the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Forests and Parks, also in the Province of Alexandria, from 27 February to 5 March, the Forestry Departments were involved in verifying the correct application of national and regional sector regulations.

5 out of 6 businesses non-compliant

The objective of the checks was to combat the illicit cutting of plants and promote sustainable management of forest resources, in order to protect the forestry heritage of the Province, guaranteeing the legality of activities related to silviculture.

Out of 18 checks carried out, 15 of these were found to be non-compliant, resulting in the imposition of administrative sanctions pursuant to the regional law on forest cutting, for a total of 15.866 disputed euros; on two occasions criminal offenses were detected regarding the transformation of land use carried out in the absence of the required authorization or in non-compliance with it, for which those responsible were referred to the competent Judicial Authority.

Tortona and Carbonara Scrivia

In the municipalities between Tortona and Carbonara Scrivia, in particular, the checks carried out affected a state-owned area falling within the “Greto dello Scrivia” SPA, within which violations were found and reported to the manager of a company that carried out the cutting intervention did not comply with the provisions of the project approved at the regional level.

The intent of the "Bosco Sicuro 2023" campaign is to reiterate the commitment of the Forestry Specialty of the Carabinieri in combating illicit forestry and environmental activities, in order to guarantee the protection of the territory and its resources, primarily forestry, the utmost attention must be paid to the protection and safeguarding of which is also seriously endangered by climate change, increasingly characterized by dry winters, hot summers and short and violent atmospheric phenomena, as well as by the occurrence of fires and the proliferation of parasites.
