In the early hours of this morning the Carabinieri of the Rossano station and of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Territorial Department of Corigliano Rossano, with the investigative coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Castrovillari, directed by the Chief Prosecutor Alessandro D'Alessio, have arrested a 22-year-old, seriously suspected of the crimes of «evasion" is "fire».

Before continuing with the reconstruction of the facts it seems appropriate to clarify that the news is disseminated to guarantee the prerogatives of information and in respect of the rights of the suspect - still to be considered subject to the presumption of innocence, given the current stage of the proceedings, whose criminal responsibilities can only be ascertained through a sentence that has become irrevocable, ed.

The story began at the end of last February, when the boy was arrested because he was considered seriously suspected of «persecution», carried out against a minor with whom he had shared a romantic relationship in the previous four years. The restrictive measure was adopted after the twenty-two-year-old was caught with a knife near the girl's workplace, where he had demanded to see her for a "final and definitive clarification".

Following that incident, the boy he had been subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest at his home in Rossano Centro, where he was also monitored using the "electronic bracelet" that had been applied to him.

A situation that remained stationary until the night of May 1, 2024, when the young man subjected to house arrest requested the intervention of an 118 ambulance because he claimed he wasn't feeling well. For this reason he was transported to the emergency room of the Rossano hospital, where the doctors examined him and released him shortly.

After the diagnostic tests, the boy remained in the waiting room of the Rossonese health center for a few minutes, from where then, according to the reconstruction carried out, he went out and walked the necessary route to reach the house where his ex-girlfriend lives, towards whom he had already implemented the persecutory conduct which culminated with the concrete risk of that last clarification. Under the building he then set fire to the car used by the girl's family, whose flames spread to the two vehicles parked alongside, also putting at risk all the people who live in that residential complex. An extremely dangerous situation which, only due to some favorable circumstances, did not have other and much more serious consequences. Following the vehicle fire, the boy returned to the hospital premises, from where he contacted the Carabinieri to report that he had been discharged and could return home, while the Fire Brigade intervened to restore safety conditions and the Carabinieri who, at the same time, began to collect the evidence to support the accusatory hypothesis which culminated in the arrest this morning.

What was revealed by the investigations – if confirmed in court – appears to be a plan studied in detail and aimed at pouring out all the anger of a subject who turned out to be dangerous for the victim and his family.

On the basis of the serious and concordant evidence collected, the 22-year-old was hit with a precautionary measure for the «fire"And the"evasion», as well as a provision to aggravate the previous precautionary measure. For this reason the interested party was arrested and confined in prison, where he will remain at the disposal of the magistrates of the Castrovillari Court.
