Aci Catena (Catania), the Carabinieri execute the precautionary measure of house arrest against a subject investigated for stalking
The Public Prosecutor's Office, as part of an investigation against a forty-four year old from Aci Catena (Catania), investigated for "stalking", he requested and obtained, from the GIP of the Court of Catania, the precautionary measure of house arrest, carried out by the Carabinieri of the local station.
The facts that led to the issuing of the restrictive measure, without prejudice to the presumption of innocence until a final sentence of conviction, they were reported to the Carabinieri by a forty-one year old local woman.
The woman, separated from her ex-husband for about six years, reported persecutory and harassing behavior during which the man allegedly carried out a series of obsessive and intimidating actions against the victim and their two children, aged 9 and 17.
The suspect, in particular, not accepting the separation, would have focused his attention on the eldest son, a person with a disability, who would have suffered psychologically from the pressures he had been subjected to. In fact, the man would have demanded, from the woman, to be constantly informed about all their activities, movements and acquaintances.
The complainant, in fact, reported an episode that supposedly occurred during a trip to Naples she took with her two children, of which the suspect had not been informed.
The suspect, in this circumstance, allegedly began to make repeated video calls to his eldest son who, initially reluctant to answer, eventually gave in, revealing the destination of the trip.
This information would have triggered the man's anger, who would have forced his son to remain in constant contact with him, showing him where they were and who they were with.
These requests were accompanied by insults directed at both the mother and the young man.
The obsessive behavior of the abuser would have caused the boy a deep psychological distress, so much so that he would have blocked the telephone contact of his father who, however, would have continued to contact him through other applications, always maintaining an aggressive and threatening tone.
When filing the complaint, the woman reported to the military a further particularly significant episode, useful for understanding the attitudes with which her ex-husband imposed his demands.
In July, in fact, the man, while he was with his eldest son, allegedly threatened her, telling his ex-wife that he would not return the boy to her unless she gave him the rechargeable card on which the single allowance for the children was credited. The woman, fearing serious emotional repercussions on her son, allegedly found herself forced to give in to this request.
The evidence provided by the Carabinieri would have confirmed the veracity of the reported facts. Consequently, the GIP issued the precautionary measure of house arrest last October 31st. The man, already convicted in December 2022 for “mistreatment in the family” against his ex-wife, allegedly continued to violate the restraining order. Furthermore, in another episode, he allegedly caused personal injuries to the victim and her father-in-law.
In relation to these elements, the GIP ordered the precautionary measure of house arrest against the suspect.
