Aci Catena: first slaps and pushes his partner then threatens her and the Carabinieri with a knife. 38 year old arrested.

The Provincial Carabinieri Command of Catania pays maximum attention to the activities of prevention and fight against gender violence, also thanks to the monitoring network established in 2014 throughout the national territory, made up of soldiers trained and specialized in this delicate matter.

In this context, the Carabinieri of the Acireale Radiomobile and the Aci Catena station they arrested a 38-year-old from Aci Catena for the crimes of mistreatment of family members, resistance and threats to a public official.

In particular, around 14pm in the afternoon, the Acireale Operations Center received a request for help from a woman who, in a panic, claimed to be attacked by her partner. A Radiomobile patrol was therefore immediately sent, already engaged in a patrol service in the central area of ​​the town, to the woman's home located in a small street that intersects provincial road 41.

The profound knowledge of the area allowed the soldiers of the Carabinieri to quickly reach the woman's home, aware that a timely intervention, on the occasion of these serious events, it is essential to safeguard the safety of victims.

Upon arrival, the Carabinieri were greeted in front of the entrance door of the apartment by the violent man who, without hesitation, he blocked them and started insulting them, stating that they could not have entered the house.

The military's greatest concern, in those excited moments, was check the health status of the woman who had asked for help.

They then forced entry by pushing the 38-year-old, who continued to resist.

The determination of the investigators, with the help of the attacker's father, allowed them to enter the house, despite being constantly verbally attacked by the man, who had no intention of giving up.

Once inside the house, the operators immediately reached the woman, a 41-year-old from Aci Catena, who, visibly terrified, she said she was slapped and pushed by her partner, despite the presence of their youngest daughter.

At that moment, however, his companion, taking advantage of the confusion, ran into the kitchen and, from a drawer in the cupboard, he took a switchblade which he began to brandish against the victim and the Carabinieri. The moments of tension forced one of the Radiomobile soldiers to stand between the man and the woman, to prevent the latter from being injured, pointing the Taser at the man to make him desist.

The attacker's father, present during all phases, fearing the worst for his son, grabbed him forcefully and managed to disarm him.

In a moment of distraction from the 38-year-old, the soldiers managed to make the woman escape out of the house, where she was taken over by the Carabinieri of a second patrol from the local station, which had arrived on site in the meantime to support its colleagues.

Having secured the woman, all the soldiers returned to the apartment, where they definitively blocked the still furious criminal, who was railing against them, threatening them: "...if I see you outside I'll kill you..." and against his partner: " …You have to go, otherwise I'll set fire to everything... and I'll kill you even if they're there."

The young victim, accompanied to the barracks, comforted and reassured by the presence of the Carabinieri, wanted to tell in detail what she had suffered since July 2023 and, in particular, the reason for that last attack.

In fact, he reported that his partner, perhaps due to drug use and constant gambling losses, he had become increasingly aggressive, so much so that, on one occasion, he had even shattered the kitchen glass with a punch.

The victim further explained that, to avoid being beaten, she found herself forced to ask her parents for help, moving in with their daughter. The attacker, however, not wanting to accept her decision, had even reached her at her workplace, where, regardless of the presence of witnesses, he had threatened her with death.

Even on the occasion of the last event, the reason that led her partner to attack her was the lack of money: the man was looking for 100 euros that the woman had already used for household expenses.

Based on the evidence collected, the attacker was arrested and placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, who validated the arrest and ordered him to be placed in precautionary custody in prison.
