Viareggio: 35-year-old wants to take his own life, the Carabinieri prevent the suicide.

In the late evening of September 24, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of the Carabinieri Company of Viareggio saved a 35-year-old with drug addiction problems who, in a handwritten note, had expressed to his parents and girlfriend his intention to take his own life.

The request for intervention, received from the parents via "NUE - 112", was managed by the operator of the Carabinieri operations center in Viareggio who managed to contact the would-be suicide by telephone, who expressed his desire to "do it over."

The Carabiniere, understanding the need to act with absolute caution, spoke with the man, trying to cheer him up and reassure him. At the same time, having located his position, he ordered the intervention of a patrol from the Radiomobile Section at the Torre del Lago railway station.

The Carabinieri, who rushed to the scene, did not see the man and walked along the tracks. After a few hundred meters they noticed the man walking along the tracks.

The man was caught and removed from the tracks before the arrival of a passenger train.

Shortly afterwards he was entrusted to the healthcare staff, who in the meantime had been alerted by the Operations Centre, who took care of his transport to the Versilia Hospital.
