Venice: the driver of a lorry traveling against traffic along the Padua ring road arrested.
On Monday 5 February 2024, the arrest of the driver of the lorry that on the night of February 4th was traveling against traffic at very high speed along the Padua ring road, in the direction of Abano Terme (PD).
He had been spotted by a patrol of the Venice Traffic Police on territory control and road surveillance duty near Corso Argentina and blocked, with the help of another crew, in a very short time, implementing all the intervention procedures foreseen to protect the safety of other users in transit.
In an attempt to escape, the driver first rammed one of the service cars and then collided with a passing vehicle, whose driver was immediately helped by the other crew.
Just inside the town of Selvazzano Dentro (PD), he was pulled alongside, blocked and forced out of the vehicle with difficulty, revealing himself, as expected, the evident state of alcoholic intoxication for which specific checks were then followed at the offices of the Padua Traffic Police Section.
The alleged crimes are resistance to a public official, escape and failure to help in the event of a road accident with injuries, damage and driving while intoxicated.
Both the two policemen and the driver of the vehicle hit during the escape required hospital medical treatment, suffering only minor injuries.
