Turin, Police against No-Tav of Askatasuna for the march of 1 May 2019: 13 precautionary measures issued
Turin, The Turin State Police, as part of a detailed investigation carried out by the Digos of the Turin Police Headquarters and coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out 13 precautionary measures, of which 1 under house arrest, 3 residence bans in Turin and in the Municipalities of Val Susa and 9 obligations to report to the PG) towards leaders and militants of Askatasuna responsible for the crimes of resistance to a public official and aggravated private violence, committed on the occasion of the procession of 1 May 2019. In particular, it is the precautionary measure of house arrest was ordered against one of the historic leaders of 37 years, who was also recognized for his role in coordinating and directing the violent phases of the demonstration.
Three of them are banned from staying in the Municipalities of Turin and Val Susa, while the precautionary measure of the obligation to report to the PG has been ordered against another 8". The same precautionary measure was also ordered against the historic spokesperson of Askatasuna, a 40-year-old woman, currently detained in prison in execution of a final sentence, who, in the role of "speaker", assumed the role of "official voice of the procession ”, fomenting and inciting other individuals. The facts date back to the workers' demonstration on 01 May 2019, when several Askatasuna militants, positioned at the head of the social segment made up of around 2000 people, also linked to the No-Tav movement, the anarchist area and the various city dissent groups, have been responsible for repeated violent actions which have made various and calibrated interventions of the contingents of the police forces and Digos personnel necessary in order to prevent the implementation of a precise strategy aimed at overpowering the other political-institutional components intent on marching for the city center to reach the head of the procession with the precise objective of giving, among other things, a purely "NoTav" connotation to the traditional workers' demonstration. Shortly before the institutional procession started, several individuals attempted several times to break through the police cordons, then managed to pass, at the beginning of the demonstration, the van of the Liberi e Uguali party, subsequently attempting to also pass over the party section. Democrat, attacking, on several occasions, both some political exponents and members of the party's security service, one of whom was violently kicked and punched by some Askatasuna militants.
Subsequently, the demonstrators attempted to break through another cordon of the police forces, forced to intervene with relief actions also because they were subjected to the throwing of bottles, flag poles and other blunt objects, during which one was slightly injured. Digos operator. The complex investigations by DIGOS made it possible to identify and report 30 other area militants in a state of freedom for similar crimes.
