Tight controls in Pozzallo (RG), Carabinieri and Police united for greater safety.

The service, conducted with the precious support of the Carabinieri dog units and our four-legged colleagues, Riley and King, was concentrated in the center of Pozzallo where, in recent weeks, there has been a resurgence in incidents of vandalism and juvenile deviance which also saw the youngest protagonists. The response of the Police Force, however, was not long in coming. During the service, the operating staff identified approximately 30 subjects, some of whom already had criminal records, carried out over 10 personal searches and 3 house searches as well as inspected and searched 8 vehicles. In the same operational framework, two people from Pozzallo were reported to the Prefecture of Ragusa for possession of narcotics such as cocaine and hashish for personal use and a 52-year-old Moroccan was reported in a state of freedom for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, as he was found in possession of approximately 30 grams of hashish and packaging material. Numerous checkpoints were then carried out to also monitor compliance with the highway code; on this occasion, a fine was issued for driving a motor vehicle without insurance coverage and the vehicle was administratively seized at the same time.

The Carabinieri of the Ispica and Pozzallo stations also applied two execution orders for prison sentences, both issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Ragusa. In particular, the soldiers of Ispica arrested and transferred a 66-year-old convicted felon from Ispica to the district prison of Ragusa since he must serve a residual sentence of 2 years and 28 days of imprisonment, in addition to the payment of €12.400 in fine, for the crime of possession for the purpose of trafficking of narcotic substances in competition, committed in September 2020 in Rosolini and Modica.

The Carabinieri of Pozzallo instead executed an arrest order against a 23-year-old Tunisian woman, unmarried and with a criminal record. She was transferred to the Catania district prison where she will have to serve a residual sentence of 2 years, 10 months and 5 days of imprisonment for the crimes of robbery and personal injury, committed in July 2019 in Pozzallo.
