Taranto, the staff of the Grottaglie police station intervened late at night near a pizzeria in the city center because the owner of the place had reported a violent attack by two subjects, still present on site.
According to what the victim said, the two, father and son, aged 53 and 35 respectively, known criminals in the area, had gone from verbal threats aimed at extorting money to actual acts, attacking him with a telescopic metal stick and a knife.
Statements that were promptly confirmed after the discovery of the two objects used in the attack: the stick was still in the father's hands and the knife in a planter hidden shortly before by the son.
The police were able to ascertain that the extortion requests by the 35-year-old had been going on for some time and had become increasingly pressing until culminating in that violent episode.
Once the facts had been ascertained, the two were arrested, the father for aggravated assault and for escape, as he was already subjected to the house arrest regime; the son for extortion, attempted extortion and aggravated assault.
The two were accompanied to the prison in the capital.
For the restaurateur attacked, a ten-day prognosis for the injuries to his face and abdomen.
