Taranto, 22-year-old motorcyclist arrested in possession of an illegal semi-automatic pistol. A theft at the Don Bosco parish prevented.

The attention of the State Police is always high, engaged in the daily control of the territory both in the capital and in the Ionian Province. The Falcons of the Flying Squad, while traveling along the provincial road 107 towards San Donato – Faggiano on their motorbike, noticed a large displacement motorbike arriving at high speed with a young man on board whose face was partially covered by his helmet. Ordered to stop for a check, the motorcyclist stopped shortly after: inside the bag, the Hawks recovered a semi-automatic pistol cal. 7.65 clandestine single-stack BERETTA brand complete with magazine supplied with nr. 6 GFL cartridges in 7.65 caliber.

Having sent the documents to the competent Judicial Authority, the 23-year-old, with criminal prejudices, was arrested because he was allegedly responsible for the crime of possession of an illegal weapon and ammunition and was placed under house arrest.

In the late evening, two crews of the Flying Squad, alerted by colleagues from Operations Room 113 of the Police Headquarters, went to the Don Bosco parish where the presence of two alleged thieves had been reported within the parish area.

The Volante agents together with the Parish Priest thus searched the entire perimeter of the parish, recovering numerous power tools and two mixers along the wall of the church which the thieves were unable to take away, probably because they were put to flight by the arrival of the Volantes.

The inspection revealed that the door of the theater located in the basement of the structure had been forced open and that numerous tools, including two large speakers, were no longer in their usual places.

The police, believing that in their escape the two alleged thieves may have also left their means of transport nearby, carefully searched the areas surrounding the parish, noticing an Apecar on which numerous bulky objects covered by a white sheet were loaded.

The check made it possible to recover the two loudspeakers removed from the theater which were returned to the Parish Priest.

Investigations are continuing to ascertain the identity of those responsible for the theft.
