Spoleto, the Police Band plays on the occasion of the 64th edition of the "Festival dei Due Mondi"

Spoleto, as part of the collateral events at the 64th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto, was held yesterday evening 1st July 2021, the concert of the State Police Band.

The show, hosted by the presenter Elena Cervigni, took place in the evocative historical setting of Piazza Duomo starting at 20 pm, where the musicians and musical masters of the State Police performed for approximately an hour and a half, interpreting musical works ranging from Alfred Reed and John Lennon to paying homage to the audience with tributes dedicated to the great Maestro Ennio Morricone and was delighted by the extraordinary participation of the Lew Divas30S – Italian Sopranos quartet, by the violinist Olga Zakharova of La Scala di Milano and by the harpist Chiara Marchetti.

The State Police Musical Band is made up of 105 performers who, led by a Deputy Master and the Master Director Maurizio Billi, all coming from the most famous conservatories, has been an important vehicle for the dissemination of music in Italy and abroad for almost 90 years. 'abroad. The high artistic profile of its interpretations and the quality of the programs offered qualify the State Police musical band among the best wind orchestras at an international level.

The musical performance, highly appreciated by an audience of around a thousand spectators, saw as guests in the audience the Deputy Chief of Police Prefect Maria Luisa PELLIZZARI as well as the highest civil and military officials of the province of Perugia and the Umbria region, including Mr. Prefect of Perugia Dr. Armando Gradone, Mr. Police Commissioner of Perugia Dr. Antonio Sbordone, the President of the Court of Appeal Dr. Vincenzo D'aprile, the retired Prefect Dr. Roberto Sgalla and all the mayors of the neighboring municipalities.

The Police Commissioner of Perugia, greeting the guests, stated that: "If it is true, as it is true, that the Police represents, with respect to the communities, the friendly face of the State, our Musical Band is simply an extraordinary representation of this friendship".

At the end of the concert there was an emotional interpretation of the Italian anthem.

The Prefect Maria Luisa Pellizzari, Deputy Director General of Public Security with Deputy functions, after having presented a recognition of merit to the 95-year-old Cavalier Luigi Cosso, Vice President of the Spoleto Section "for his long militancy and the precious contribution offered in growth and development of the National Association of State Police" was keen to express the following words: "A wonderful orchestra that represents the women and men of the State Police, through the language of music, as universal: that reach everyone, because we are all of you, serving the community."
