Rome, stalker hires hitman on the Dark web, pays in Bitcoin to disfigure his ex but is arrested

Rome, the State Police carried out the precautionary measure of the house arrest, ordered by the investigating judge of the Court of Rome, against a forty-year-old from Lombardy, IT expert, official of a large company, for aggravated persecutory acts against his young ex-girlfriend.

It is the first time that, through an investigation on different operational levels, real and virtual, the investigators of the Postal and Communications Police Service, the Flying Squad and the Rome Postal Police manage to promptly identify and stop the instigator of a serious crime. crime of gender violence, planned down to the smallest detail on the Dark Web.

It seems like the plot of a contemporary thriller in which the author gives life to a nightmare: in the background a broken relationship, the planning of a crime, the search for a hitman on the Dark Web to harm his ex-girlfriend, the payment of the commission in Bitcoin.

Reality, however, shows yet another story of a man who thinks he can destroy a woman because she doesn't accept the end of their story.

The news came to the attention of State Police investigators last February, from an Interpol report: the Police of a European country had acquired some conversations relating to a serious commissioned crime on the Dark Web.

An unknown client asked an "intermediary" to hire a "hitman", so that a woman in Italy would be disfigured with acid and confined to a wheelchair, e for this service he had already made the first of several payments in Bitcoin. The intermediary put the client in contact with a hitman, who promised to complete the task in a short time.

But the investigation, directed by the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out jointly by the Postal Communications Police Service, the Rome Flying Squad and the Lazio Postal Police Department, made it possible to identify the victim and bring to light, in a very short time , the whole story.

The investigators of the Postal Police, with the fundamental contribution of the cooperation of Europol, which carried out the analysis of the financial transactions and which supported the complex investigative activities for international implications, have identified the person responsible for the chilling request.

At the same time, the Section of the Flying Squad of Rome, specialized in crimes of gender violence, reconstructed the girl's life, her acquaintances and romantic relationships, reaching the same conclusions: from the profile of an ex-boyfriend, in fact, a personality emerged morbid and obsessed with the female figure.

The man, while sending flowers and insistent messages to the young woman's address, through complex computer anonymization practices and using the Tor network, contacted a site on the Dark Web, requesting subjects called "Assassins", upon payment of a large sum in Bitcoin, services aimed at causing her very serious injuries.
