Rome, burglaries in the Termini area: 23-year-old Moroccan arrested and an Italian arrested.
Two more arrests by the State Police in the Termini Station area, where checks were further intensified following the indications of the Minister of the Interior.
In recent days, the agents of the Viminale police station have implemented the precautionary measure of precautionary custody in prison, issued by the Ordinary Court of Rome at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, against a 23-year-old Moroccan citizen as he is seriously suspected of the crime of theft against a woman, who had snatched her mobile phone from her hands while she was sitting on board a public transport stopped in Piazza dei Cinquecento, and then fled. The victim chased the man until he lost sight of him. Spotting a State Police patrol passing at that moment at the intersection of via Manin and via Amendola, he stopped the policemen and told them what had happened. Thanks to the viewing of video surveillance images and some testimonies, investigators managed to identify the alleged perpetrator of the theft and arrest him.
Last Tuesday, however, the policemen from the Viminale police station carried out a PG arrest against a 21-year-old Italian citizen, also seriously suspected of theft by snatching. It all originated from the story of a Polish woman who showed up at the police station offices on May 12th, reporting to the police that, while walking along via Gioberti in the company of a friend of hers, she had been approached by a woman and by a man. The latter, with a lightning move, had ripped three necklaces from her neck, two of which were in gold and one in silver. The two then made a hasty escape towards Termini station. From viewing the video surveillance cameras in use at the railways and those of the local businesses, the police managed to trace the identity of the alleged perpetrator. Subsequently, during an extraordinary territorial control service in the station area, the police noticed a young man corresponding to the subject immortalized by the cameras. Recognized through photo comparisons as the alleged perpetrator of the criminal act, he was placed under arrest as a suspect in the crime. After validation, the GIP ordered the boy to report to a police office.
In any case, all the suspects are to be considered presumed innocent, in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings, i.e. that of the preliminary investigations, until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence.
