Rome, nighttime thefts in the Prati district: three foreign citizens identified and arrested.
- State Police investigators of the Prati police station, following in-depth investigations coordinated by Prosecutor of the Republic of Rome, proceeded with the execution of an order implementing the precautionary measure of prison, issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Court of Rome, against 2 Georgians and 1 Latvian, the first is 33 years old and the others are 32, seriously suspected of the crime of aggravated residential burglary in conspiracy. The investigations began following numerous home burglaries consumed between the months of June and September 2022, in the Prati district and in the surrounding areas, during the night hours, following which the victims suffered significant property damage.
By analyzing the images of the video surveillance cameras, the officers identified, thanks to tattoos and mocking gestures towards the devices that were filming them, the same perpetrators in 3 circumstances. Having collected sufficient useful elements to identify the alleged perpetrators of the crimes among the current suspects, the GIP issued the precautionary detention measure in prison for the 3 foreign citizens, a measure carried out by the same policemen from the Prati police station. In any case, all the suspects are to be considered presumed innocent, in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings or that of the preliminary investigations, until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence.
