Rome, 44th anniversary of the killing of Michele Granato by a commando of the Red Brigades.

Yesterday was 44th anniversary of the killing of the Police Officer Michele Granato by a commando of the Red Brigades.

At 12:00, the Vicar of the Quaestor of Rome, Francesco Ratta, in his memory, laid a laurel wreath on behalf of the Chief of Police Victor Pisani, at the “San Lorenzo” Police Station, where the Officer was serving at the time of the terrorist attack.

The ceremony was attended by civil and military authorities, together with the victim's family and colleagues.

As is known, on 24 September 2004, on the occasion of the celebrations for St. Michael the Archangel, the then President of the Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi awarded a gold medal to the memory and civil valor towards the Police Officer Michele Granato who, committed to the fight against terrorism, he was murdered at the age of 24 with numerous shots fired in a dastardly ambush.

The police investigations made it possible to identify and capture all the members of the commando, who were then convicted, with a final sentence.
