Reggio Calabria, the police arrest a 46-year-old: he possessed large quantities of child pornography

Reggio Calabria, A few days after the conclusion of the operation called "Canada 2.0", which involved more than one hundred subjects throughout Italy for crimes relating to child pornography, the Calabria Postal Police proceeded with the arrest in flagrante delicto of a 46-year-old man for large possession of child pornography material, following a personal, local and IT search ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Reggio Calabria, during which the operators seized and verified the IT devices and memory media in its possession.

The search decree carried out was adopted by the Deputy Public Prosecutor Dr. Vittorio Fava, in charge of the investigation, following the investigative findings communicated by the Postal Police at the conclusion of the detailed IT and traditional investigations arranged, which allowed the recipient to be identified of the provision as the alleged perpetrator of crimes perpetrated online against minors.

The preliminary technical analysis of the content of the instruments in the possession of the suspect, conducted immediately by the Specialty operators at the Siderno Marina Police Station offices, in whose territorial area the man resides, has in fact allowed the investigators to identify over 1000 files of pornographic images and videos depicting minors, in many cases abused or tortured at a very young age.

Having ascertained the seriousness and flagrant nature of the conduct, therefore, the Postal Police proceeded with the flagrant arrest of the 46-year-old unemployed man, separated from his wife and without children, and with his transfer to prison at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.

As on previous occasions, in this case too, the impetus played by a report received through the international cooperation circuit regarding the fight against the exploitation of minors in the production of pornographic material, subsequently exchanged and disseminated online, with bodies foreign and non-governmental associations, whose developments are coordinated on the national territory by the CNCPO, National Center for Countering Online Child Pornography, based in Rome at the Postal and Communications Police Service; this partnership, which provides a fundamental contribution in combating online abuse against minors.
