Ragusa: territory checks, two people reported by the Carabinieri for "mirror fraud" and illegal landfill identified.

The Carabinieri of the Ragusa Company, in collaboration with the 12th Carabinieri Helicopter Unit of Catania, have implemented targeted coordinated services for the control and prevention and repression of crimes on the main connecting arteries of the Iblean capital.
Identify overall 41 Guests (including numerous foreigners), 25 vehicles checked and a couple from Noto (a twenty-six year old and a twenty-four year old) were referred to the Judicial Authority in a state of freedom for damage and attempted fraud using the so-called "mirror scam" technique.

The two, aboard a white Volkswagen Polo traveling on SS 115, had attempted to defraud a motorist by throwing stones on the side of his vehicle while he was in transit, damaging it and subsequently unsuccessfully trying to force him to pull over. Fortunately, the driver was not fooled and immediately alerted 112. However, shortly after the couple attempted a further scam against another driver, implementing the same modus operandi and this time managing to stop him with the aim of forcing him to get money delivered.

However, the two were promptly identified by the Carabinieri patrols and blocked. Conducted to the offices of the Provincial Command of Ragusa for the ritual investigations, they were reported for damage and attempted fraud in competition and the car used to commit the crimes was subjected to seizure.

Furthermore, as part of the same service, along the coastal area of ​​Marina di Ragusa, an illegal waste dump was identified, promptly reported by the Carabinieri to the competent authorities and reclaimed very quickly with the restoration of the area.
