Pope Francis' clinical picture improves. The rites of Holy Week have been revolutionized.

«Pope Francis rested well during the night. The clinical picture is progressively improving and the planned treatments are continuing». While the world anxiously follows the news of the Pontiff's hospitalization yesterday afternoon at the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome, the director of the Vatican press office, Matthew Bruni, reassures the press agencies again.

«This morning after having breakfast, he read some newspapers and resumed work. Before lunch he went to the chapel of the private apartment, where he prayed and received the Eucharist.».

Meanwhile, the cardinal Leonardo Sandri, vice dean of the College of Cardinals, confirmsHandle “plan b” conceived by the Holy See for the celebration of the Easter rites: «On Sunday I will celebrate Palm Mass: I was warned already last Monday by the Master of Papal Ceremonies that the rites of Holy Week would each be celebrated by a cardinal, and they asked me for Palm Sunday».

Pope Francis' hospitalization was timely, given the risk factors and, in the case of respiratory infections (as in this circumstance), “the early use of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories is the best guarantee of a speedy recovery”. This is what we learn from medical sources.

The hospitalization will allow, in a condition of prudence, to subject the Pope to intravenous therapy, while oxygen monitoring and blood chemistry tests continue. The lung infection from which the Pope suffers is said to be mild, a bronchitis which did not produce any payments, as could be verified with a CT scan of the heart and lungs.

However, It is not yet known how many days the Pope will be hospitalized at Gemelli.

Numerous television crews and information workers who, since yesterday evening, have positioned themselves outdoors, in an area near the entrance to the polyclinic, to report on Francesco's hospitalization.

There were also several onlookers who flocked this morning with their eyes focused on the windows with the white shutters lowered, also visible outside the large hospital structure.
