Naples: Agents of the San Lorenzo Operational Unit intervened in via Caramanico to verify an alleged Roma camp.

During the inspection, four wooden structures and one masonry were identified. The brick structure appeared to be frequented by homeless people. The wooden structures housed people of Romanian origin, who declared themselves squatters. During the search, an electrical cable was located extending from the structures to the former cotton factory.

Following the cable, a thermomagnetic switch was discovered precariously fixed to a window, connected via a flying cable to an Enel pole near the Caramanico market. Enel's intervention confirmed the fraudulent withdrawal of energy, without the presence of a meter, directly from an Enel box.

Once the ownership of the land was confirmed to the Municipality of Naples, following discussions with the Judicial Authority, the occupants of the structures were reported for energy theft, invasion of public land and damage. Furthermore, a commercial activity in via S. Maria del Pianto, the subject of numerous complaints, was inspected. The owner was sanctioned for an expansion without authorisation, illegal occupation of the land with mobile trolleys on the pavement, overbuilding and advertising board without authorisation.
