Modena: poisoned meatballs, dog units clean up the area.

The "reclamation” of the area was decided after the outcome of the analyzes conducted by the Zooprophylactic Institute of Emilia Romagna and Lombardy on behalf of the Veterinary Service of the Modena Local Health Authority showed confirmed the presence of rat poison in the morsels of meat found in the area over twenty days ago. On that occasion it was the network of the Neighborhood Control group in Via Araldi and Saffi that triggered the alarm by bringing directly, and with due caution, the meatballs collected in the ASL laboratories and alerting the local police.

While awaiting the outcome of the scientific analyses, the Command of via Galilei he therefore did place notices in the area to warn patrons and pet owners of potential danger; the rest was done by the "tam tom" of the Neighborhood Watch.

The two dog units of the association, made up of a dog and two volunteers, each identified in a harness, which makes use of sniffer dogs trained to recognize suspicious morsels in the same way as drug-sniffing dogs do with narcotics, will move from 19pm to sieve, starting from via Gottardi, the green areas of the streets involved to avoid the possible presence of other poisoned bait.
