Modena: drunk behind the wheel, flees and rams the local police.

It started out as a regular check up a car stopped in a roundabout with the door open, but then it turned into a real one chase, even if it was only a few hundred meters long, which ended with the arrest by the Local Police of Modena of a Ferrarese from Cento di 68 years reported for driving while intoxicated, resisting a public official, attempting to cause personal injury, illegally carrying weapons or objects capable of offending. And the car, aAlfa Romeo 159, was seized.

It happened on the evening of Saturday 13 January when, around 21.30pm, a Local Police patrol, based on a report, intervened in the roundabout between Via Caduti sul Lavoro and Via Emilia where a car was stopped, with door open and keys in the ignition, but without a driver, identified nearby after a few minutes, visibly impaired and in no condition to drive.

Having secured the vehicle, the Local Police operators warned the subject against getting behind the wheel in that state. The man from Ferrara, however, did not listen to them and after a few minutes he was spotted driving the Alfa Romeo in a sort of escape that lasted a few minutes and a few hundred metres: the car, in fact, after a brief chase was blocked by the patrol in via Respighi. After stopping, however, the man restarted the vehicle and he tried to open a path by ramming the patrol car several times, in the meantime joined by another patrol in support.

The operators were not injured and the Ferrarese was stopped and accompanied to the headquarters, where he refused to submit to a blood alcohol test. At that point, the complaint for violation of thearticle 186 paragraph 7 of the Highway Code, as if the survey had ascertained a presence of alcohol in the blood such as to place it in the third and most serious band identified by the rules.

During the check, then, the man, who has a criminal record, handed over a switchblade knife and was also reported for violation of reads 110 of 1975 on the illegal carrying of weapons.
