The meeting with the press was attended by city ​​councilor Emilia Rotondo and young members of the Council. “The presentation of this important autonomous body permanent within our institution, represents – said Mayor Basile – the fulfillment of what we have always demonstrated during this first year of administrative activity. Our goal is welcome all the subjects of the city, open to participation and sharing, involving especially young people, who are the main agents of social and economic change and innovation through the development of their projects and ideas.

The Youth Council was born precisely from the need to involve children in the activities of the Palace, an open building – Basile highlighted – which needs to listen to everyone's ideas to find the right dimension and the right balance. The organism existed on paper and today takes shape in a concrete way. A process strongly desired not for a didactic question but for a practical one from the perspective of what we represent, that is, the administration of doing". Basile then addressed the kids and invited them to be even more committed to doing, "participate in the life of the Municipality through your proposals as this project is the basis of a reasoning that makes you protagonists of the City", concluded Basile.

“A process that began way back in 2013 – added councilor Cannata – which today sees the creation of this Organization both throughadoption of a new Regulation, approved by resolution of the municipal council, which through the concrete constitution through the participation of young people who are part of it, and who for the first time take their place in this Municipal building for act as a link between the young people of our community and the Administration. This is an important goal, which I strongly desired, so that from a project on paper we could move on to real realization. I am proud of the birth of the Consulta - underlined Cannata - as well as of my particular closeness to the world of youth, above all because we will have these young people who will be able to make a valid contribution through the development of opinions and proposals as well as share initiatives and projects that involve them personally, offering them the opportunity to have a voice not only in relations with the council but also with the municipal council".

They are part of the Youth Council as representatives of the respective Associations, Concetta Costa, legal representative of the CNGEI Messina Scout Section; Myriam Vizzini for the Messina University Student Community; Lorenzo Monteleone non-profit community Messina; Aurora Falcone of “Orizzonte”; Denise Siracusa of “Morgana”; Emanuele Carlo of the Union of University Students of Messina; Antonio Urbano for ATREJU – The students' company; John Federico Bungaj of the San Domenico Dazio Parish; Bonfiglio Gabriele of the Michelangelo Trimarchi Cultural Association; and representing schools Rita Gemelli for the Basile institute. Councilor Cannata and Councilor Rotondo are part of the permanent body representing the Municipality as members, without the right to vote. In this regard, the representative of the Civic Assembly in reiterating the role of connection between the administration and future generations "I thank - said Rotondo - my colleagues for the trust placed in me in representing the Council within the Youth Council and I am sure that there will be no shortage of ideas and the desire to do things because the voice of young people must be heard".
