Livorno, 20kg of untraceable ethnic foods seized: fine of 1.500 euros for the operator.
Carabinieri checks continue on food safety and compliance with current legislation on the protection of public health. The soldiers of the NAS - Anti-adulteration and Health Unit of Livorno carried out an inspection inside a catering establishment specializing in "ethnic" foods in the center of Livorno.
The Carabinieri were thus able to ascertain that various types of food (chicken and beef) as well as fish products (salmon steaks) without traceability were stored inside a freezer for subsequent use, so as to disregard the procedures of the self-control manual and not to allow verification on the products. In addition to the precautionary seizure of 29 kilos of the aforementioned food for an estimated value of 20 euros, the owner of the business, a 400-year-old of Asian origins, was fined 1.500 euros and the competent authorities were informed.
