Lecce: Fines and sanctions for a total of approximately 23.000 euros, 3 business owners reported

The Carabinieri of the Gallipoli Company have completed an important operation long-range territorial control, supported by the military of the NAS and NIL and by the civilian personnel of the Labour Inspectorate. This type of service was implemented to ensure compliance with public health regulations and to combat undeclared and irregular work, in a perspective of joint repressive action.

During the operation, 5 companies were inspected, all fined for violations relating to safety in the workplace and compliance with regulations concerning regular work. A total of 24 workers were checked, of which 3 were found to be irregular. The violations that emerged led to a series of measures.

Among the most significant cases, a bar owner in Aradeo has been reported for failure to comply with workplace safety requirements, with a fine of approximately 6.000 euros and immediate suspension of business for the employment of two workers without due notification to the Employment Centre, leading to total fines exceeding 10.000 euros. Another bar owner in the same location received an immediate suspension and fines of over 6.000 euros for the employment of a worker without the necessary communication.

A construction company entrepreneur has been reported for violations of safety regulations and for failure to update the risk assessment document, with a total fine of almost 7.000 euros.

In Copertino, the owner of a pizzeria was reported for hygiene-sanitary and structural deficiencies, with fines of 3.000 euros, while the owner of a bar was reported for similar hygiene-sanitary violations.

Overall, they were contested fines for a total amount of almost 13.000 euros and additional administrative sanctions for approximately 20.000 euros. The competent authorities have been informed so that the necessary measures can be taken. The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Lecce reiterate the fundamental importance of such controls, which are essential to ensure the safety of workers and the correct application of current regulations, marking a significant step in the fight against undeclared work and in favor of the protection of public health.
