La Spezia, pusher caught in the act of committing a crime arrested under the arcades of Piazza Brin.

La Spezia, the last intervention of the officers of the Judicial Police Section dates back to yesterday afternoon who, also thanks to the help of the municipal video surveillance system, managed to arrest another drug dealer.

“The fight against drug dealing continues through constant monitoring of the area outside schools, in squares, parks and places where young people gather most – declares Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini – applause to the officers of the Judicial Police Section who were able to manage the entire operation in the best possible way, also making use of the video surveillance system, which is increasingly widespread in the city and which has reached over 500 observation points, with around 230 active cameras. In recent years we have invested so that our Local Police have all the tools necessary to best carry out each assigned task, a choice that is guaranteeing important and clear results for an increasingly safe and livable city."

In particular, while an agent monitored the city video surveillance images of the porticoes of Piazza Brin, another operator was on site monitoring the area in civilian clothes.

At approximately 15.40 pm, from the Operations Room the first officer alerted his colleague in the street of the arrival of an individual who, from the way he was moving, seemed to be looking for someone.

The fact is that, at that same moment, from the cameras, he could see the gestures of the arrested man, when with a clear gesture of the hand, he invited the man still in the Square to join him.

At that point the buyer in fact reached the drug dealer under the arcades and, after giving him some money, received some substance in his hand; then he walked away in the direction of Corso Cavour, where he was immediately stopped by the plainclothes agent to whom he spontaneously handed over what he had just purchased.

For these reasons, once the narcotic substance was found, the plainclothes operator on site together with another patrol of the Local Police in uniform stopped the seller and accompanied him to the headquarters in Viale Amendola.

Subjected to a personal search, inside the pocket of the trousers he was wearing, they found further hashish amounting to around half a pound and a dose already packaged and ready for transfer. During the search operations, the officers also found the 20 euro banknote which was the object of the transfer and therefore the proceeds of the crime which, together with the narcotic, was also seized.

Once the ritual operations were completed and the PM on duty was notified, we proceeded with the arrest of the subject, a twenty-five year old South American, legal in the national territory and resident in Bolano, who will appear before the Judicial Authority this morning to validate the arrest, while the Italian buyer was reported to the local Prefecture regarding the violation of the art. 75 Presidential Decree 309/90.
