Italian-Swiss citizen arrested in Varese for drug production and dealing activities.

On November 29, the Varese State Police – Anti-Crime Division – executed a seizure order issued by court of Milano – autonomous prevention measures section, on a proposal formulated jointly by the Police Commissioner and the Prosecutor of the Republic of Varese, towards a Italian-Swiss citizen, resident in Lugano, held responsible for activities of production and dealing of narcotic substances.

The man has already reported final convictions in Italy and Switzerland for drug production and dealing crimes. It was immediately clear that the standard of living of the man and his parents, retired farmers living in the Luino area, was decidedly high, although he declared himself to be totally devoid of any good and/or utility, claiming to have squandered, over time, all his possessions. The reality that emerged from the flow analysis was quite different.

The detailed analysis of intense movement of financial relationships made it possible to ascertain that for decades large sums of cash had been flowing into the accounts of the subjects under scrutiny, without a justified reason and always below the minimum threshold of payment of cash required by current legislation.

The frenetic activity of managing the deposits by the spouses was clear, very skilled at counting cash, paid with Tight cadence on all personal accounts and passbooks in order to issue checks for the purchase of real estate. The illicit proceeds actually derived from the criminal activity referred to the son was primarily responsible.

The entire estate, awaiting quantification by the judicial administrator, currently has an approximate estimate of approximately two million euros. When calculating the assets to be seized 5 real estate units, 8 lands, 3 cars, 1 dinghy with relative trailer are included, a trailer and 29 financial reports.

Two of the current accounts identified and one of the properties are located in Spain, in Tenerife.

Thanks to the application of EU regulation no. 1805/2018, which provides for the mutual recognition of seizure and confiscation measures within EU countries, it was possible also freeze said assets held abroad.

As with criminal proceedings, too in the case of prevention measures, we are in any case awaiting the assessments of the competent judicial authority, which will proceed in compliance with the rights of defence.
