Cassino, homeless man steals scalpels from hospital and threatens police. Arrested.

A man has been arrested by police for theft, resisting a public official and unjustified carrying of an improper weapon, after a scalpel was stolen al emergency room of the Santa Scolastica Hospital of Cassino.

The intervention was triggered following a report to 112 by the health personnel, who had noticed a homeless man wandering around with a suspicious attitude among the patients' stretchers and in the rooms used for storing medical supplies. The man had been caught several times stealing meals and personal items from patients and it also moved in the areas reserved for drugs and surgical instruments.

After repeated invitations to leave, he reacted in an aggressive and threatening manner towards healthcare personnel. The agents, intervened on the spot, tracked him down and subjected him to search, finding him on top of a surgical scalpel without a protective cap, recognised by health workers as belonging to the hospital structure.

During the check, the man assumed a hostile and provocative attitude, spitting repeatedly on the ground. Once taken to the police station, he attempted to escape by kicking and spitting at the policemen, making his immediate arrest necessary.
