Giarratana (Ragusa): he barricades himself in his house and sets it on fire, Carabinieri arrest 40-year-old with the use of a taser.
The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of the Operative and Radiomobile Nucleus of Ragusa intervened in Giarratana, where the owners of a house had reported to the Single Emergency Number 112 the state of strong agitation of their son who, in the grip of a fit of rage unleashed by the abuse of narcotics, had shortly before thrown them out of the house by attacking them under threat of death, barricading himself inside.
Furthermore, the same individual had been stopped a few days earlier, not without difficulty, by the Carabinieri of the local station who had been alerted by the citizens because, in a clear state of alcoholic alteration, he was roaming dangerously through the streets of the town, also causing an accident, fortunately without injuries.
However, the criminal complaint for driving while intoxicated and the seizure of both the car and the driving license do not seem to have been enough to calm his excesses.
The soldiers of the Emergency Response Unit, who immediately arrived on site following instructions from the Operations Centre, with the help of the 118 personnel, the Fire Brigade and the Carabinieri of the local Command Station who arrived shortly after, decided to break into the house. when the 40-year-old, a local criminal but having lived for many years in central Italy, barricaded himself in his house in a fit of anger, began to set fire to the property and the first fumes began to escape from the house.
In the frenetic moments of the intervention, the Carabinieri were violently attacked by the man, so much so that it was necessary to use the taser, the electric pulse gun supplied to the police.
The man was then handcuffed and the paramedics were able to proceed with his treatment, before accompanying him by ambulance to the Pope John Paul II hospital in Ragusa, where the soldiers themselves also received medical treatment for the minor injuries they had sustained.
Once the medical checks were completed, the man was arrested and, after the usual photo-signalling, taken to the Ragusa prison, where he will remain awaiting the decisions of the Iblea Judicial Authority.
