Foggia. Illicit production, trafficking and possession of narcotic substances: 12 precautionary custody cases carried out.

The State Police of Foggia, at the first light of dawn, executed an order precautionary custody of which 10 in prison and 2 under house arrest, issued by the GIP at the Court of Foggia, upon proposal of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, against as many subjects, subjected to preliminary investigations in relation to the crime of illicit production, trafficking and possession of narcotic substances ex art. 73 Presidential Decree 309/90 in the municipalities of San Nicandro Garganico, Apricena, Cagnano Varano and Campomarino.

The investigation, started in 2022, arose from an investigative activity carried out by the staff of the San Severo PS Police Station, in collaboration with the policemen of the Flying Squad and made it possible to collect serious indications of guilt against the 12 subjects in relation to the alleged crime. In fact, the recipients of the precautionary measure showed a marked delinquent capacity due to the "modus operandi" through which the transfer, or in any case the offer to third parties, of doses of narcotic substances would take place. In particular, inside a house located in Campomarino the aforementioned women would have sold large quantities of narcotics, pocketing large profits on a daily basis, also through transfer of the substance to buyers from neighboring countries.

Furthermore, in all points considered strategic, people would have been constantly stationed with the task of checking for the presence of any policemen who could "disturb" the drug dealing activities. The squares, probably used for the purchase and sale of narcotic substances, they were chosen in contexts in which the presence of foreign people was noticed with a certain ease. In addition to this, quick appointments were arranged with regular users to whom they would deliver portions of the narcotic substance daily, in always different places, to evade any checks by the Police Force.

The activity carried out yesterday morning involved the staff of the San Severo police station, assisted by the staff of the Foggia Flying Squad, of the Crime Prevention Department, by canine units and by a heliport. The epilogue of the investigative activity testifies to the constant commitment of the State Police in an area characterized by particular social alarm in relation to the crime of drug dealing.

The proceeding is pending in the preliminary investigation phase; it should be noted that the position of the people involved in the aforementioned police operations is being examined by the Judicial Authority and that they cannot be considered guilty until a final conviction has been pronounced.
