Cremona, they stole machinery from construction sites and "recycled" them: 3 arrests and 6 suspects between Lombardy and Rome

Cremona, they stole machinery from construction sites and "recycled" them: 3 arrests and 6 suspects between Lombardy and Rome.

There are three measures restricting personal freedom that the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Cremona together with the Carabinieri of the provinces of Mantua and Rome have carried out in recent days, while six people have been reported in a state of freedom.
The accusation against those arrested and under investigation is the theft of work vehicles and their recycling and self-laundering, having prepared false accompanying documents and having altered identification plates and chassis numbers in order to "clean" them and resell them.
The precautionary custody order in prison against the three men, a 51-year-old resident in the province of Cremona, a 38-year-old resident in the province of Mantua and a 61-year-old resident in the province of Rome, was issued by the GIP of the Court of Cremona at the end of a detailed and complex investigation, which lasted over a year, into the confirmed thefts of three construction site vehicles, both excavators and earthmoving machines, stolen from companies operating in the sector, which the Cremona Carabinieri managed to recover. Their total value is around 200 thousand euros. The investigative activity of the Cremona military began with the complaint presented by a Cremona entrepreneur who in July 2020 had suffered the theft of an excavator on his construction site.
From the viewing of the surveillance cameras in the area it was possible to verify that that night two men had arrived at the site of the theft on board two vehicles, a car and a truck, and after entering the work area they took out an excavator and they loaded him onto the heavy vehicle, then moved away. The subsequent investigations, also carried out on the openings present on the roads of the province, made it possible to verify that the two vehicles driven by the thieves had gone towards the province of Brescia and it was possible to detect their license plates which made it possible to identify the actual perpetrators of the crime, one of whom, domiciled in the province of Mantua, was arrested today while the other was reported.
The searches carried out over time by the military made it possible to ascertain that the excavator ended up inside a warehouse in the province of Brescia where its identification data were modified and the documents falsified to avoid being traced back to its illicit origin. Subsequently the work vehicle was sold in the province of Rome, to then be transported across the Alps and put up for sale again through an import/export company attributable to one of the arrested people. From France the vehicle had returned to Italy, bought back by two people from Brescia who delivered it, on consignment, to a specialized company in the sector in the province of Piacenza. The original owner, following the main specialized online sales platforms, learned of a vehicle very similar to the one stolen from him, notified the Carabinieri of Cremona who verified its correspondence with the one stolen in July 2020.
One of the three arrested had an area at his disposal in the province of Bergamo where he brought and kept various work vehicles in storage for a few days, of which two, an excavator and a Bobcat, were stolen respectively in Orzinuovi and Dello in September and October 2020. Also in this case, to conceal the illicit origin, the identification plates had been altered and the registration documents falsified. The two vehicles were seized and at the end of the investigations returned to the victims of the theft.
All the other suspects provided, in various capacities, a significant contribution to the carrying out of the transport and concealment of the stolen vehicles, through various steps, and to the preparation of transport documents and the alteration of the chassis numbers for the purpose to profit from the subsequent sale, hindering the identification of the illicit origin. Some of them also had the availability of sheds in which to hide the vehicles and carry out the operations of replacing and altering license plates and chassis numbers.
During the searches carried out, a Caterpillar skid steer loader complete with sweeping bucket was found in the province of Mantua, worth over 40.000 euros, which was found to have been stolen in mid-January in Cremona from a company in the province of Brescia which was carrying out asphalting work. , while in the other places searched numerous false declarations of conformity relating to the vehicles were found, various keys to operating machines, as well as specific equipment suitable for carrying out the operations of removal, affixing of identification plates and alteration of chassis numbers, all placed under seizure.
The investigations also made it possible to ascertain the bank movements relating to the payments of the vehicles made by the unaware buyers towards subjects who participated in the criminal activities.
